Meet Nicole

Hi, my name is Nicole

I hold a Master of Counselling and a Medical Degree, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Unsurprisingly, I am a huge believer in counselling, I’ve benefited from it myself! My journey began in Medicine, but I found my passion in being in the room with my clients, honoured to be able to use my years of education in the body and mind to support others in their journeys. I believe counselling provides you with the space to make sense of your challenges, discover what keeps you stuck in unhelpful patterns, accept and honour the journey that has brought you to this place, and find new perspectives and behaviours to replace those that are no longer suiting you. But how?

My process comes from a trauma-informed, relational, nonjudgmental lens. This means I believe the secret lies in not what’s wrong with you, but what happened to you. Whether it happened a long time ago or recently, and whether it was the result of experiences with family, friends, coworkers, bosses, or strangers, you learned, grew, and adapted in ways that made absolute sense at the time…but may no longer be serving you now that you’re in a different place in your life. I hold space for you as a whole imperfect human being and help process how you got here by welcoming those sometimes difficult experiences and feelings of shame, anger, sadness, fear into the room to be heard, witnessed and validated without judgement. I believe when you are fully seen, understood, and accepted, you can stop fighting within yourself, and start fighting for yourself.

In my work with couples and families, I create safety in the room for partners and family members to lower their defenses and foster re-connection from a place of understanding and support. I help each person be heard and validated (there is no blame here) and help create new patterns of communication, respect, conflict resolution and love and care that brings you closer to your loved ones, instead of apart.

I’ll be honest, you are embarking on a journey with both ups and downs and sometimes it will be challenging, but I will be with you every step of the way, to encourage you, empower you, and yes, sometimes call you out (gently).

You bring your experiences and reflections, and I’ll bring my training and experience as we work together to build a personalized toolkit of new coping strategies that you can draw on. My therapeutic approach is integrative to fit each individual and includes principles from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Self Compassion, and Inner Child Work.
