Meet Laura

Hi, my name is Laura

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and hold a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle. Years working in social service support roles with folks facing multiple barriers have shaped my belief that everyone is worthy of respect, compassion and connection. We all have times when we need to lean on others and everyone deserves a safe space where they can be themselves, be seen and supported without judgement.

It takes great courage to reach out when we are in pain, feel lost or stuck. Together, we will build on that strength to develop greater capacity, using insight, experience and awareness to make change. I believe all aspects of a person’s being are important to this process, as well as the social, cultural, and physical environments a person experiences. I am interested in your story, in understanding how you see the world, and in helping your unique path to unfold.

My work is trauma-informed, collaborative, and based on a strong, trusting relationship. I meet you where you are at with the understanding that you are the expert on your life. I foster safety and connection so you can feel secure to turn toward what is difficult and begin to explore new ways of experience. Building awareness in the mind and body will establish new patterns of feeling, thinking, moving and being in the world that will help you move toward wellbeing in alignment with your core self. I am with you every step of the way, creating a safe container for our work together that is guided by your needs and goals.

My approach is largely grounded in mindfulness, somatic, person-centered and cognitive-behavioural therapies, and I draw from a variety of techniques to tailor our work to your needs, such as narrative, inner child, Gestalt, psychodrama, existential, acceptance and commitment, and solution-focused. I am particularly experienced working with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, suicidality, attachment and development wounding, recovery and addiction.

It is a privilege for me to support and be with you on this journey. I invite you to book a free 15-minute consultation to get a feel for how we can work together.
