Hello, my name is Ferdie (she/her).
I am completing the final practicum in the Masters of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. I have a BA in Applied Psychology with a minor in Counselling and Human Development from Simon Fraser University and over the past three years have worked as a Behaviour Therapist and Autism Service Provider for neurodivergent children and their families. I also have Psychotherapist Qualifying status with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My hobbies outside the workplace include yoga, hiking, cooking, spending time with family and friends, travelling, and learning new languages.
Being bilingual (Spanish/English, some basic French) and having lived in many countries, I have an open, inclusive, and cross-cultural worldview. I am passionate about creating a safe space for clients to tell their stories and collaboratively explore what feels scary or leaves them feeling psychologically and emotionally “stuck”. I believe everyone is an expert in their own life and that integrating your strengths and goals with proven clinical approaches will lead to understanding, validation, and healing of your emotional needs. I use an affirmative and integrative approach to counselling, pulling from various theoretical modalities. Therapeutic services are adapted to meet every client’s unique needs. I value and prioritize connection and trust in therapeutic relationships and provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can feel seen and heard and gradually allow themselves to be vulnerable.
We all have tremendous capacity for growth and positive change. It would be an honor to be a part of your journey.
