The Significance of The Lotus
We are not what brings us to therapy
The lotus flower emerges and feeds on the mud and when it blooms, it rises up out of the mud. It is a perfect analogy for the human mind, as we have the ability to transcend and overcome great adversity. If mud didn’t exist, neither would the lotus.
At Lotus Therapy, we believe every client has an inherent resilient nature and capacity to heal. In our view, your symptoms are the result of your brain’s adaptive attempt to cope and survive, not an indication that you are broken.
We work from a number of approaches that go beyond talk therapy and focus on relationally oriented somatic therapy and draw on interpersonal neuroscience. These modalities are very effective at alleviating the distress that results from trauma.
